In France, Ghosts Dine Out : Jacques Duquennoy.

The Ghost’s Dinner Written and illustrated by Jacques Duquennoy This edition c1994 A Golden Books Paperback from Western Publishing Inc.: New York

Henry has invited some friends to a dinner party. They are all fairly pale until drinks are presented and a transformation happens. A little spinach juice and Voila’ !

Taking a sip.

This was French children’s author Jacques Duquennoy’s breakout book. He had been teaching Kindergarten children, and knew what kind of story they relish. The story is simple, the idea clever, and the illustrations are just right. I looked forward to reading this to kindergarten and first grade students every year, because it was always met with wild approval. The fun keeps coming with each turn of the page. Used copies of this book and its sequels are for sale at ridiculous prices, but there are Youtube videos of it read aloud, so I hope to not frustrate anyone who wants to share it.

Everyone enjoys some Swiss Cheese!
