First Books: Book List #1

Since the publication of “Pat the Bunny” in 1940, books that engage multiple senses have been introducing babies to story time. There are soft cloth books, books with plastic pages that can be wiped clean, and many durable board books. Your baby does not need a vast library to get started. As you know, repetition is big with babies. If a child has just a few books of their very own and a person with an available lap, their journey into literature can begin. This list is by no means complete, but it contains some of the favorites that families have shared over the years. When I checked, Dorothy Kunhardt’s “Pat the Bunny” has sold over ten-million copies and is still going strong. All the titles on this list are available as board books. Happy Story Time New Babies!
